I have downloaded Player54setup.exe.

I have vista home premium Service Pack 2 32 bit system.

I have tried to install using "run as administrator", but I keep getting:

"Error 1920... NMSAccess... failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services".

I have re-downloaded, and also tried to install from the admin account, but I keep getting the same message.

Open a command prompt and type Services.msc
right click on the NMSAccess service and click properties
click on the Log On tab and see if the Local System Account is selected?

If you click on the general tab and click the start button does the service start?

I have gotten the same error and so player did not open. I went to command and did as outlined in this post but player still did not open. Any different ideas? Thanks. Susan

The same thing happened to my wife on her XP computer when trying to install version 5.4.1 and version 5.4.2. We followed the steps to completely remove version 5.3.2, including editing the registry and ensuring that she has the proper DirectX and Windows media player. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I encountered this error, I found that CDBurnerXP installed a service called NMSAccessU that appears to be conflicting with TheRecord Player's NMSAccess service. When I disabled NMSAccessU, I was able to complete TheRecord Player setup and start the NMSAccess service. I haven't tested to see whether this change breaks CDBurnerXP.

Thanks for posting this information. I will see if we can detect this software in product installation process.
